We are in need of help for my father and are somewhat confused as to where to turn.  Do we look for a home health company, a home care company, rehab facility, or some type of living arrangement?  Dad suffered a mild stroke and is limited in doing a lot of things without assistance.

Knowing which way to turn is confusing for most everyone.  This is what I would recommend for your discovery plan.  First, talk to your father’s doctor, if he or she feels your father would benefit from occupational, speech, physical therapy then your father’s doctor can order this type of home health services.  If your father just needs help with his activities of daily living (ADLs) a service like Senior Solutions Home Care could be beneficial.  Activities of daily living are things like, housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, bathing, personal needs etc.  If rehab is needed for your father I am positive your doctor would bring this to your attention.  Making a living arrangement change is really up to you and your father.  There are state requirements that a person must meet to be accepted into an assistant living arrangement.  However, there are several assisted living facilities in our area that would be happy to go over the requirements to make sure your father is a good candidate.  If you have any other questions or concern, call 888.769.7724.  We are here to help.
